Breaking Ground

Last Tuesday NTM Homes, a complex for retired NTM missionaries, held a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the proposed construction of a chapel with a seating capacity of 350 people, a reception area, three offices and a conference room. The current chapel and office area will be transformed into additional apartments for an assisted-living facility, the Latham Center.

Retirees, staff members, and NTM leaders gathered outside the Latham Center for the ceremony. Paul Gess, chaplain of NTM Homes, opened the ceremony with a message concerning King David’s ground-breaking for the temple.

Retired Executive Committee member Duane Stous gave a brief history of the Homes and reminded the gathering that the original ground-breaking was 20 years ago.

Dan Thomas, chairman of NTM Homes, said there are now 260 people living on the property and the current chapel seats only 252. There is a definite need for more apartments and a larger chapel.

Funding for the new building is at approximately 50 percent. The cost is estimated at $2 million.

Pray for safety for those involved in construction. Pray also for the needed funds to come in.
